Objective The aim of this study is to explore the influence of two major three-dimensional reconstruction algorithms on the calculation of morphology parameters of intracranial aneurysms(IA). Methods For 6 patients with IA, marching cubes (MC) and marching tetrahedral (MT) were used to reconstruct the IA three-dimensional geometric models respectively. Five major morphological parameters, including size, aspect ratio(AR), nonsphericity index(NSI), size ratio(SR) and aneurysm inclination angle(AIA), were calculated using the two models. Then the differences of morphological parameters in these two models were demonstrated by comparison. Results The calculating results of AR, NSI, SR, AIA and the time consumptions for reconstruction are significantly different and those of size are slightly different between the two reconstruction models. Conclusions When calculating AR, NSI, SR and AIA in high-precision, MT should be used to reconstruct the IA, although MT is time-consuming. While the size is needed only, MC is preferred since its fast running and relatively good precision.
